8/09/2008 - Rosy Cross

I have been looking online and at different stores around town for what I would consider the perfect addition to my collection of spiritual articles. My search has lasted three weeks and I still had not found exactly what I needed. I was looking for a stand-up cross (symbolizing the physical body or humanity) with a rose or flower in the middle (symbolizing enlightenment or connection to the ethereal/universe/God). I just had not found the cross that I felt represented me and I had finally decided that I would stop looking so hard and let it just come to me.

Today my wife son and I were driving in Placitas and saw a few signs for a village wide flea market. I had a feeling, somewhere in my heart, that I would find it there, and had to stop see if it was true.

I pulled up next to a table and spied what I thought was a cross sitting there. I got out of the car and walked up to a stand up cross with a red five-petal flower in the middle colored in southwestern styles. It seemed to be made in a Mexican tradition popular in New Mexico. As everyone was packing up when I approached, the man at the table told me that he would give me a bargain. It was listed at $22 and I only had $11 in my pocket. "Give me $10." he offered.

I am now the proud owner of the perfect missing Rosy Cross!
